How to choose the right shed

How to choose the right shed

The humble garden shed offers homeowners storage solutions without taking up valuable space within the home. A garden building can be seen as a sound investment whether it be simply for storage or personal sanctuary and can become an eye catching feature in any garden.

When looking for the right shed for you, there are a number of factors you should take into consideration.

1.) Size

Size always matters, before you start you should look at the overall space you have in your garden and consider how much of that you feel necessary for storage. Taking into account the size and amount of items you require storing is important as you want to maximise the space you have set aside for your garden building.

2.) What will you be using your shed for?

This is another key consideration. Storing bikes, garden furniture and garden tools would not necessarily require you to need windows in your building, although double doors may be considered for ease of access? Will you be using your shed as a craft / hobby room or turning your building into the main feature of your garden? If so, something a little more stylish like a summerhouse could be required.

Whatever the usage, our range of garden shedsstorage shedssummerhouses and log cabins offer a space for every requirement.

3.Roof design

The look and style you want to create can be determined by the roof design you go for. At Just Sheds UK, we offer two types:

  • Apex roof sheds

The classic garden shed design is the Apex roof. With its central peak and two sloping roofs to maximise water run off this roof is synonymous with garden buildings.

  • Pent roof sheds

The pent roof sheds feature a more contemporary and modern style of roof. With a single slope allowing for the rainfall to flow off the roof in one direction, they are designed to lean to the front or back which you determine when constructing.

Once you've selected the roof design, the location of doors and windows is down to you and can be designed at the point of installation thanks to the modular design of our buildings.

4. All about the base

Regardless of the garden building you decide upon, it is essential that your building is installed on a solid and level foundation. These foundations can be made of patio flags, decking, tarmac, plastic eco tiles or a concrete base.
